A birthday and an Anniversary

Yesterday was my sister, Debbie and her husband Matt's Anniversary. They got married in Hawaii and it was beautiful right at sunset. Hope it was a great day!

Today is my sweet mother's birthday. She and my dad live in Germany so we don't get to see them as often as we'd like. They will get to visit this September though so we are looking forward to a visit from Nana and Pop Pop. Please go check out the pictures that my sister posted from when my mom was a little girl. Somehow she has all the photos from our childhood and I guess my mom's as well.
Mom Hope it was a great day sorry we missed you on the phone.
I love you,

Favorite room

Kelly did a post on her favorite room and asked us to do the same so here goes.....

I really love my master bath. Not so much because of the decor because I am no designer and it is 16 yrs old, but more because of what it means. Long hot baths with no noise. Alone time. This really is about the only place that I can be alone to rest, relax, and recharge. I love the Relax sign. The lillies were painted on an old window by my sister Sandy and given to me as a Christmas gift a few years ago. If you click on the pictures to enlarge you can see that this room is in need of some deep cleaning. Oh well clean or not I can still relax in there. :)

Have a great day!

Just playing around

Well now that school is out I am finding that there are a million things I want to accomplish but so many of them will take so much time that I say to myself, "I can do that later." I have bought several plants and two really cute pots. I have been planting most of the time that David and Chandler have been gone. These are the pots that I found at Lowe's.

My sister, Sandy, sent me this really cute towel. I told her I thought I might add some ribbon to it with my handy dandy glue gun. So I will take you through the before and after with these photos. I don't know why I asked the opinion of my 6 year old, Carson, but I did and he does not like the "furry stuff". So of course now being the insecure person that I am I will fret over the "furry stuff's existance and whether or not it is really needed.

Thank you for all the birthday wishes. I did not get a "mud cake" but a very real one with lots of calories. YUM! My father in law and mother in law got one and we ate it and went swimming at Helene's (my sister in law) house. My children did get up and put several of their own things into gift bags, tissue paper included( I was very impressed). Then they waited anxiously as I opened them. They were so excited that I oooed and awed over the presents they chose to sacrifice from their own collection of things. How sweet are they?? That is until they told me that since they gave me some of their toys maybe I should take them to buy them a few new toys. I mean after all that's only fair, isn't it?
Have a great day!
Blessings,
Linda

Happy Birthday to me

Every once in a while I get the privilege of sharing my birthday on the same day we honor any and all service men and women. Those who have gone before us. My Dad and father in law are retired Marines. One brother in law is about to be retired from the Air Force, another brother in law is a retired Navy man and another was in the Army for a short while. Now my Nephew Adam is in the Army stationed in Iraq. Our armed forces are near and dear to me. Often taken for granted and forgotten about. Pray today for them and their families. It is not an easy life to live. They are underpaid, often unappreciated and sometimes just an after thought when in all actuallity they are the heros who have paved the path of the freedom that our country is so blessed to have.

Today will be a little quiet. David and Chandler are at a soccer tournament out of town. Carson and Cameron are plotting to make me a suprise birthday cake. I believe I overheard the main ingredient to be MUD. It will be the thought that counts plus there will be no calories to rid myself of. I do believe on Weight Watchers mud is O points. :)
Thank you Lord for creating me in my mother's womb and allowing her to give birth to me MANY years ago on this day. I pray that the rest of my years here on Earth will be glorifying to you and you alone.
Blessings,
Linda

Hello Again

Not feeling too great right now but I wanted to post just a little.
Our last day of school is tomorrow. We did one program today and we will do one tomorrow then Yippe it's summertime!!! I will miss the kids I have taught. They each will take a piece of my heart with them. We have been practicing for the programs and handing out the little diplomas so I knew I would have to say the children's names over the microphone which is not easy for me to do then my director said "Don't forget you are supposed to say a little something before you announce the names" Uh Oh! Now if you are sitting criss cross applesauce and looking up at me I am just fine but an audience of ADULTS I am SCARED, Very SCARED! As I was thinking this morning about what I would say the words to this little poem came to me,(Thank you Lord) I thought I would share them. They pretty much sum up our year:

Birthdays,
Star Days,
A Johnny Appleseed parade.

Letters learned,
Songs sung,
Bandaids put on more than one.

Noses wiped,
Shoes tied,
Lots of hugs when you cried.

Christmas and Easter parties to name a few
This year's been special because it's been spent
with you!

I shook during my entire time at the podium so I really can't remember what I said. I know I read the poem because I remember reading it but that's all I remember I just hope anything else I said made sense and lucky me I get to do the whole thing again tomorrow!!!!YIKES!!!!

On a really happy note, my nephew Adam suprised his mom, my sister in law, Saturday by just walking into her house unexpected. Now he has been in Iraq since October of 2007 and we all knew he was due to come home probably next week for R&R but he came a week early and we are all so excited to see him. This deployment has certainly changed him. He showed us pictures of Iraq where he is stationed and wow it is really sad to see how dirty some of the areas are. He will have to return in June but we are so thankful he is here now. Please keep him in your prayers as I know it will be hard for him to leave the family again.

As I was sitting here just blog lurking, not really commenting but lurking I kept hearing something but I was too lazy to check to see what it was. When I finally got up this is what I found courtesy of our Black Lab, Dallas. Well I guess Cameron won't be wearing those shoes to the program tomorrow... Oh Well typical he wants to wear flip flops anyway.:)

Did'nt I say I just wanted to post "a little"? Oh well I guess I got "a little" long winded.

Birthdays, give aways, new baby oh my!!

Today is Carson's birthday. He is 6 yrs old and boy did he wake up early and let us know it! He is very intellectual and I am so sad to say, a perfectionist. We have so much fun with him but he is so hard on himself and that is with no pressure from us at all in fact as I type this he is in the kitchen crying because he is losing at a game of checkers to his dad. I find it so interesting how God has given us three boys born into the same household and to the same parents that are so completely different.

This past Monday the 28th was my mother-in-laws birthday. We did a little family celebration at my sister-in-laws house for both Carson and Memere. It was a lot of fun. Memere is very special to us and we hope it was a great day for her. Here is a picture of her and Carson, of course we could not leave out Cameron, blowing out candles on the cake.

It was 57 that day and pretty windy and for some reason the little ones decided to get into my sister-in-law's new pool. I guess it looked too inviting becasue they stayed in for a little bit and I still can't believe neither one got sick. Thanks for the dinner and the fun Aunt Helene and Uncle Bruce.
This week we also got the news that our neice, Janna and her husband Billy are expecting a baby in December. The first Great Greatchild in our family on both sides. Janna is Helene and Bruce's daughter. I can't wait to get my hands on that little one and let me tell you if it is a girl Watch out because Janna is the only girl grandchild and 28 years and 7 boys later we are all hoping to add a little girl to the mix. Having said that I in no way want to take away from these awesome boys in the family and if God gives another boy than we will be equally excited.

I was so excited to win a give away held at this blog. When I got my starbucks card I immediately used it and I love the Vera Bradley Zip clip. Thank you!

Have a great day!!
Blessings,
